The best FAX server we've seen is HylaFAX. We have been using it for about 8 years.

Full configuration details are at the Hylafax web site: http://www.hylafax.org.

You can download the Hylafax package for Red Hat 8 and 9 from: hylafax-4.1.5-1rh8.i386.rpm
(Hylafax is not part of the Red Hat distribution.)

Then install it:

rpm -iv hylafax-4.1.5-1rh8.i386.rpm

Viewing FAXes

You have a few options:

kfax - which comes with KDE

viewfax - I prefer this, but you need to build viewfax yourself and have the following packages installed before you can build it: freetype-devel*rpm, fontconfig-devel-*rpm, and XFree86-devel-*rpm

Printing FAXes

You can print a fax via:

fax2ps incoming.fax | lpr
